Description

Sculptural piece with a dominant elongated prismatic crystal, partly transparent, showing pronounced longitudinal striations and a subtle yellowish tone at the base. At the centre, a cluster of finer second-generation crystals forms a radiating spray.

About Yeso

Gypsum is a hydrated calcium sulphate, characterised by prismatic or acicular habit and low hardness. At Polkowice-Sieroszowice some of the finest European specimens have been found, noted for their complex growths and high transparency.

About the locality

The Polkowice-Sieroszowice mine is noted for gypsum crystals of exceptional quality associated with copper extraction. It forms part of the Lower Silesian mining belt and has produced reference specimens worldwide, especially for acicular and prismatic forms and radial aggregates.
