Cuarzo from Rutilated Quartz Localities, Remedios, Novo Horizonte, Bahía, Brasil — Terrium

Description

Large quartz prism with rutile and hematite inclusions.

About Cuarzo

A chemically austere paragenesis, the product of a hydrothermal system with low elemental diversity, in which iron, titanium and silicon crystallise independently, linked only to oxygen.

About the locality

An industrial region to the point of depredation yet generous to collectors, with extreme varietal diversity sustained for centuries. A productive rara avis: a district is usually either very diverse but mediocre, or very good but very limited. Minas Gerais is both at once. Perhaps its name is a hint.
