Wulfenita is a mineral with formula PbMoO₄, in the Molibdatos group. This specimen comes from Cerro del Mercado, Victoria de Durango, Cerro de los Remedios, Durango, México and joined the Terrium collection in 2020.
Description
Tabular crystals with orange–yellow zoning in bands on a druse of white microcrystals. Marked contrast.

About the locality
A modest classic from one of Mexico's most famous iron mines. Wulfenite here is a secondary rarity compared with the massive iron ores and apatites.

- Named in 1845 in honour of the mineralogist Franz Xavier von Wulfen (1728–1805), for his contributions to the study of lead and its minerals.
