Description
Turquoise-blue crystals on matrix, with galena and linarite in fracture zones; granular, lustrous texture; dominant twinned quartz structure; dense, heavy matrix; bluish fluorescence under UV in some areas.
About Devillina
Devilline is a hydrated calcium-copper sulphate. It typically occurs as a secondary mineral in the oxidised zones of copper deposits, with blue-green to turquoise colour and fibrous, platy or earthy habits.
About the locality
Cantera Berta, between Sant Cugat del Vallès and El Papiol, is a classic Catalan locality, known mainly for low-temperature hydrothermal mineralisation with fluorite, galena, sphalerite and other associated minerals. Devilline is documented there, but it is not a defining feature of the deposit.
