Calcita
Calcita is a mineral with formula CaCO₃, in the Carbonatos group. This specimen comes from Sweetwater Mine, Ellington, Reynolds County, Missouri, Estados Unidos.
Description
A large golden-yellow scalenohedral calcite crystal accompanied by a few smaller calcites on a sulfide matrix coated in sparkling dolomite. Under LW UV, the calcite fluoresces strong red-orange, while the dolomite shows a duller orange-yellow response.
History of this specimen
Bought in Tucson directly from the miners of the mine. It has a younger sister, the piece with ID (0656).
