Cuarzo from Campo de Brañes, Brañes, Oviedo, Asturias, España — Terrium

Description

Grey quartz flower, a sculptural miniature of a stellate spray of lustrous, partly translucent, grey-tinted quartz points on quarry matrix.

History of this specimen

A few years ago some quartzes came out with the same morphology but brown in color. These are grayish. The area had burned, which is why it was possible to get in and search among the rocks and cracks that had previously been impossible to access. It has been acid-treated to bring out the intergrown crystals. It is not from the quarry but from a nearby area. The deposit is very close to the limestone quarry (no. 26267) operated by the company Caleros de Brañes,
