Description
Small specimen with fine, colourless, transparent gypsum needles growing in various directions and interweaving to form a white crest along the upper edge of the matrix.
History of this specimen
Few of these beautiful gypsums remain because of a despicable act by heartless vandals who, after looting an absolutely breathtaking geode to their heart's content, lit an old tire on fire inside the mine so that thick, black smoke would ruin it forever. Their scheme was simple: stop anyone else from collecting those delicate gypsums to artificially drive up the value of the pieces they had already taken. What appalling stupidity and utterly dense selfishness—destroying a unique site forever out of sheer speculati
About Yeso
San Timoteo gypsum stands out for its ultra-fine, water-clear needles clustered in frost-like sprays. These represent post-mining neoformations, nourished by calcium- and sulfate-rich waters trickling through old workings. The true appeal of these specimens lies in the sheer delicacy of the crystals and in keeping that fragile, easily damaged tangle completely intact.
About the locality
A classic locality infamous among collectors for a tragic incident: heartless vandals set fire to a tire inside the cave to damage the remaining delicate gypsum crystals. The soot blackened the "Geoda Blanca" forever.
