Hackmanita
Hackmanita is a mineral with formula Na₈(Al₆Si₆O₂₄)Cl₂, in the Silicatos (Tectosilicatos) group. This specimen comes from Badakhshan, Afganistán and joined the Terrium collection in 2024.
Description
Piece composed of hackmanite and green hauyne, with purple and green colorations visible to the naked eye.
History of this specimen
Compact crystals and a translucent appearance. Hackmanite is famous for its color-change ability (tenebrescence) and its fluorescence. The green hauyne stands out for its rarity.

- Etymology
- In honor of Victor Axel Hackman (1866-1941), a Finnish geologist. 'Haüyne' is in honor of the 'father of crystallography', the Frenchman René Just Haüy.
