Cianotriquita is a mineral with formula Cu₄Al₂(SO₄)(OH)₁₂·2H₂O, in the Fosfatos group. This specimen comes from Qinglong Mine, Dachan, Qinglong County, Guizhou, China and joined the Terrium collection in 2025.
Description
Thumbnail with tufts of electric-blue cyanotrichite. Visible to the naked eye and well defined under a hand lens.
About Cianotriquita
A copper–aluminium hydroxysulphate. Handle with care due to its fragility: the acicular fibres are so delicate that a strong breath or a finger's touch can collapse the tufts.
About the locality
An antimony–gold type deposit, the most iconic Chinese locality for this species. Unlike other areas where it occurs as massive or impure material.
