Cuarzo Cloritado
Cuarzo is a mineral with formula SiO₂, in the Silicatos [Tectosilicatos (Grupo Cuarzo)] group. This specimen comes from Ganesh Himal, Dhading District, P3, Bagmati Pradesh, Nepal and joined the Terrium collection in 2025.
Description
Very light, sculptural cluster of grey-green prismatic crystals, lustrous, very sharp, doubly terminated, and chlorite-coated, intersecting each other.
About Cuarzo
Chlorite inclusions tint quartz olive green and produce a matt, velvety surface. These Himalayan specimens are notable for open growth and three-dimensional crystal intersections, much appreciated by collectors for their explosive and uncommon habit.
About the locality
The Ganesh Himal area in the Nepalese Himalaya is known for quartz crystals from Alpine-type clefts, where slow growth conditions favour open forms and chlorite inclusions that tint the crystals.
