Description

Prismatic crystal of exceptionally slender habit, with perfect terminations and a velvety appearance from a moss-green chlorite coating.

About Cuarzo

Quartz is a silica tectosilicate very abundant in the Earth's crust. In this specimen, chlorite forms a secondary coating, associated with low-temperature hydrothermal processes, which imparts the characteristic colour and texture.

About the locality

Chloritised quartz from the Ganesh Himal is noted for its aesthetic, slender crystals. The area is known for producing high-purity specimens with isolated, elegant, well-terminated crystals, much prized in international collecting.
