Description

Repollo Pinchudo. Vertical and branched with white rhombohedral crystals arranged in interlacing bundles. The terminations end in well-defined points. Vitreous-silky lustre and translucent ivory tone. Bluish fluorescence under UV light.

About Calcita

Calcium carbonate that crystallises in the trigonal system. It is one of the most common minerals in the Earth's crust and can form in sedimentary, metamorphic, or hydrothermal environments.

About the locality

The La Araña quarries, in the eastern part of Málaga, cut into Triassic limestones with cavities lined with light-toned calcites, frequently fluorescent.
