About Barita

Baryte is a barium sulphate valued for the range of colours it can exhibit. Blue tones, uncommon, make it one of the most attractive varieties of the species.

About the locality

El Estrecho de San Ginés is one of the classic baryte localities in Spain. Its mines, now closed, produced high-quality crystals in bluish and transparent tones, which are now sought after on the collectors' market.
