Description

Small yellowish-green crystals on oxidised matrix, forming an irregular crust with resinous lustre.

About Adamita

A mineral species of the arsenate group (olivenite group), with an orthorhombic crystal system and notable green fluorescence under UV light. It forms in the oxidation zones of zinc- and arsenic-bearing deposits, and is commonly found in botryoidal or prismatic aggregates.

About the locality

Historic polymetallic mine in a desert environment of northern Mexico. Known for its mineralogical diversity, especially secondary species such as adamite, wulfenite and aurichalcite. Although closed as an industrial operation, material continues to be extracted for the collectors' market.
