Description
White, stout column coated with chalcedony; homogeneous granular texture, dull to slightly pearly lustre; complete piece, undamaged; straight form with slight sinuosity at the top.
About Cuarzo
A cryptocrystalline variety of quartz composed of microfibrous silica; common in cavities where it precipitates in successive layers, producing botryoidal or stalactitic coatings.
About the locality
In the Pune district, stalactitic chalcedony is common, forming in cavities within the basalts of the Deccan Traps.
